KOK; RIVER
The River Kok is the longest, widest and deepest river in all of Allansia and flows into the sea in at the Kalong Marsh. It is a fast flowing river that rises in the Dire Mounds and Troll Hills in the Far East, and is fed by several other rivers and streams through the nation of Kaypong and Chiang-Mai. The main waters of the River Kok however, mainly come from the Icefinger Mountains that marks the northern edge of habitable land in northern Allansia. Three main rivers join the River Kok from the north: the River Mekong and River Ping that flows south from the Icefingers' into the heart of Chiang-Mai, and also the Orsten River that flows south into Kaypong east of Zengis through the Highpass valley. The Whiterapids is a powerful river that joins the River Kok in western Kaypong and flows through the northern edges of the Moonstones and the Brightloam caverns.
The River Kok is fordable in numerous areas along its course and bridged a Fang, Panee, Hillrise, Kokbridge (also known as Guilford), Popung and Zengis. Its upper reaches form the Kalong Marsh, a vast delta of cold swamplands and marsh. The River Kok is home to a great many animals and creatures. Of most notes are the great silver Roi, a fish that is a delicacy across Chiang-Mai and the large dangerous Crocosaurus that swims along the river from the Kalong marsh. Boats, barges, ships and occasionally galleys are a common site along the river, carrying merchants and their goods to distant parts.
Navigating the River Kok is a fairly simple matter and is not too difficult, providing one is sufficiently experienced in handling a boat and is skilled in Ride/Water based. This Special Skill covers most small rowing boats and larger boats such as barges. Rolls on the skill are only required in regions along the Broad Dale Valley and along the Forest of the Night where the river can prove far more troublesome with sand-bars, rapids, narrows and shallows and waterfalls that can test the skills of the very best boat handler. If being attacked in areas such as these, navigating in the dark or during bad weather, penalty modifiers should be imposed at the Game masters discretion.
The river is however filled with all manner of fish and plants and those skilled with Hunting, Fishing and Trap Lore will find the region offers plenty of supplies to sustain them on their travels. Many types of creatures inhabit the River Kok and encounters with these and others can prove helpful or deadly:
