How is everyone getting on with Blood of the Zombies? Too hard? Well today might be your lucky day as Ian has announced on Twitter that the first print run of the book has sold out already and the first re-print is already in circulation. Why is that important you ask, well Ian recognised your initial stats were a little low to start the game with and therefore has changed it from 2d6+12 to 2d6+20 instead. Those of you playing what is now the collector's edition can apply the new stat if you play the game again. Ian also confirmed your stamina can also go over its initial level. Anyone worked out the magic number yet? If you would like share your thoughts on the book or have drawn a map of your journey, e-mail The Warlock on mail.fightingfantasy.com with your stories.
In case you missed the Radio 2 interview earlier this week, listen now to Steve Wright chat with Ian Livingstone. For the record the app will not be released on Monday.

Yesterday I went to London to visit the Queen, nope wait, see the Olympics, nope Ian Livingstone nonetheless for the book signing launch event of Blood of the Zombies at the Forbidden Planet megastore. I felt he was more important and that took priority over all that the city offered.
I went up with Neil Rennison of Tin Man Games, who gave me a sneak preview of the new app on his iPad and it is developing nicely, you should all be very excited and will not be disappointed, no pressure Neil. He is the tall one in the picture on the bottom left, incidentally stood right next to him is none other than Fighting Fantasy artist - Tony Hough (and Daughter).
In the centre is the first book signed by Ian. Every book he signed he gave it a number, I managed to secure Zombie No.50! In the short hour Ian had to meet the fans he managed to meet 74, not to mention all the extra books they brought with them for him to sign as well. Most of the Icon Books entourage were there too. Finally, in the bottom right-hand picture is uber fan - Stuart Lloyd (Lloyd of Gamebooks) enjoying his day out. The book is tough, can you slay them all?

"I’ve really enjoyed writing Blood of the Zombies having been inspired by Fighting Fantasy fans everywhere. It is very gratifying to meet so many people who grew up reading The Warlock of Firetop Mountain, remembering it so fondly. I hope that today’s 10 year old, or the 10 year old of the 1980s, will consider my new book a worthy addition to the series - assuming they survive the zombies!" said Ian Livingstone.
Ian will be signing exclusive copies of his new zombie-slaying adventure at Forbidden Planet London Megastore, Shaftesbury Avenue on 4 August 2012, 3-4pm. "We’re delighted to be hosting the launch for Blood of the Zombies and welcoming Ian back to Forbidden Planet," says Danie Ware, who runs social media and marketing at the iconic store.
Blood of the Zombies will be published by Wizard Books on 9 August 2012. ISBN 9781848314054. RRP £7.99

Tin Man Games secures the iOS and Android Fighting Fantasy Licence

This much awaited news has been hard to keep quiet and has taken all my resolve to do so. Tin Man Games, who are already responsible for 9 digital Gamebook Adventures, including the forthcoming Judge Dredd app, are proud to announce that they have secured the licence to bring Fighting Fantasy to IOS and Android, yes you heard it right, Android as well. Tin Man Games will bring out Blood of the Zombies first to coincide with the launch of the book for the 30th Anniversary in August this year. This will followed up by House of Hell and I am sure they will bring us many more titles. Neil Rennison, the Creative Director of Tin Man Games will be joining Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson this weekend at the UK Games Expo 2012 to make this announcement.

The Zombies are coming.....in August 2012!
Ian Livingstone has written a new Fighting Fantasy gamebook in which YOU decided the title of the book!
As we announced in January, Fighting Fantasy is going to be thirty years old this year and Ian Livingstone has written a new gamebook to celebrate this historic event.
In this adventure YOU are kidnapped and sold to a deranged megalomaniac who wants to build an army of undead to exact terrible revenge on those once mocked him. He hates everybody except for his scientists and servants. The scientists were instructed to develop a mutated gene in human blood which would be injected into innocent victims, turning them into Zombies. The madman's henchmen kidnapped hundreds of people who were locked up to await their fate. YOU are about to be injected with Zombie blood. The Zombie army is almost complete, ready to be unleashed upon the world in a frenzy of killing and wanton destruction. YOU have to avoid being transformed into a Zombie. YOU have to kill all the Zombies, dispose of the madman and escape from the castle. To do this you will need a lot of firepower to take down the hordes of Zombies. But don't kill everybody as there is one person who needs to be rescued...
The book was nearly written but Ian couldn’t decide between two titles he had thought up for it. So he decided to use the wisdom of the crowd and hold a vote on the Fighting Fantasy website. Fans were asked to vote for either Blood of the Zombies or Escape from Zombie Castle.
The response from the fans was fantastic, thank you, with nearly 1,000 votes cast in two days. We can now reveal that Ian’s new book will be called:
Blood of the Zombies
Wizard Books will be publishing a special edition of the book in August, and Ian is hoping to have iOS, Android and perhaps a Kindle version out at the same time too. We will be announcing more news in the coming months ahead of publication.

The Warlock visits Dragonmeet
I had the pleasure of starting my day with Ian Livingstone on Saturday to collect more signed books before heading off to Dragonmeet together. On arrival we parted ways and met again at his interview with James Wallis at 11am as scheduled. The room was full and the hour passed very quickly. Ian covered his career from the very start when he and Steve Jackson set up Games Workshop, right up to his involvement in the electronic games industry today. He spent at least 15 minutes discussing Fighting Fantasy and in response to a question I had pre-prepared, he excited the audience by confirming the plans to launch a new book next year for the 30th Anniversary. He still wouldn't release the title, nor theme but did add that the release date will be August to coincide with the exact date The Warlock of Firetop Mountain was released in 1982. Afterwards he sat at the Arion Games stand with Graham Bottley, where he proceeded to autograph books for adoring fans. Some had brought their own, others bought one of the new titles Graham had for sale that day.

Fighting Fantasy at Dragonmeet
From L to R: Graham Bottley, Jamie Fry, Ian Livingstone and Jonathan Green
Around Lunchtime, after Ian had left, I managed to grab a good chat with Graham and found out more about the plans for the Advanced Fighting Fantasy re-releases. He confirmed firstly that the Sorcery! title Crown of Kings RPG will be released in either December 2011 or in January 2012. Most importantly he announced that next year we will see the release of Blacksand!, Dungeoneer and Allansia, even Out of the Pit II. Jonathan Green was also at Dragonmeet. I sat in on his panel interview where Fighting Fantasy got a mention a few times and had chats with him throughout the day. Jonathan was the guest of Tin Man Games, promoting his new Gamebook Adventures title Temple of the Spider God for iPhone and iPad. I think if asked by Ian to write another Fighting Fantasy title Jonathan would jump at the chance.
All in all a great day was had and showed the Fighting Fantasy brand is still well loved and followed.
